Finding Friction & Gravity

1. Draw a picture of one of the gravity rides as if it were stretched out in a straight line.

2. Label the places on the ride where the car has little friction acting on it. How can you tell?

3. Why isn’t there much friction at those places?

4. Label the places on the ride where the car has a lot of friction on it. How can you tell?

5. Why is there more friction at those places?

6. Draw a picture of a second gravity ride.

7. Label the places on the ride where the car has little friction acting on it. How can you tell?

8. Why isn’t there much friction at those places?

9. Label the places on the ride where the car has a lot of friction on it. How can you tell?

10. Why is there more friction at those places?

11. Compare the first and second hills on the two rides. Which ride has less friction acting on the car?

12. How can you tell? (think about hill #2 for each ride)
