HISTORY

NORTHERN CLUBS

Originally there were only three northern clubs: Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle Cascade. The Labor Day tournament was called the Tri-City Labor Day Tournament. The Portland club joined the four-year rotation, changing the name to Inter-City Golf Tournament. There is a traditional Four City Team Tournament at their Labor Day event and the cities rotate hosting these events as shown above.

SOUTHERN CLUBS

There were six clubs at one time that hosted invitational events which included Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, Stockton and Salinas. Los Angeles used to alternate with San Francisco on Labor Day and Salinas used to alternate with Oakland on Fourth of July. Salinas and Stockton had one-day events. Due to the combination of the amount of time and effort it took to host these events and a dwindling interest in traveling to play only one round, Salinas gave up their event in the 1990's. Although Stockton offered a second round in the last couple of years before giving up their Columbus Day event, the participation was lagging and 2004 was their last event.

Due to similar reasons, the Los Angeles and Sacramento clubs agreed to alternate hosting events on Memorial Day. Oakland did not host an event in 2006 and 2008 due to course scheduling and San Francisco indicated that for 2007 they did not plan on returning to Monterey.

Tucson hosted events in 1990, 1992, 1995, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015.

San Diego hosted events in 1991, 1993, 1994, 1996 and 2008.
