2013 Maui Invitational Golf Tournament

November 8-10
Day 1
56 Federation golfers played the Plantation course at Kapalua. A commonly heard quote was, "The course won today!" or "I played all 18 holes ... badly!" Mixed in with some delightful sun and warmth, the breeze kept the temperature very nice but played havoc with the golf. But we didn't come here to play easy courses, and this was a full-sized course for everyone.

Following the golf, dinner and registration were held to get everyone organized for the next three days. In addition to food, we had a hula performance and a very long set of songs by a local Hawaiian singer. An enjoyable evening was had by all.

Here are a few photos from Kapalua:

Very special thanks go to the committee that organized all the many details for this event. They started out hoping to get to about 90 players. Then the dust settled and they had to go to 180 to accommodate the demand from Federation players. A few of the names are to the right:
The Board from Oakland Chinese Golf Club
Candy Tom
Joe Young
Hugh Lee
Terry Owyang
Shirley Nishikawa, friend of Candy
